Modules, what are they, what do they do?
General information regarding modules, where to find them and what do they do.
Introduction
Modules are a new type of Minion skill introduced in Torchlight:Infinite Season 12 lunaria, they are a special type of minion that has the model and often abilities of map bosses, each of them has their own unique attributes, skills and animations.
How to aquire
In order to obtain modules a player has to kill T7 traveler, they can now allocate a new Profound talent node

Modules are dropped by the map boss that is associated with their name or form, for example, the Punisher Module is dropped by Punisher boss which can be found on several maps (refer to the attached google doc for information on where they drop)
When a module skill drop it has many layers on RNG and therefore obtaining the perfect one by yourself is almost impossible, these are the different rolls that can happen
The level will be either 1 or 21
The number of protocols will be rolled between 1 and 3 (with 3 only dropping in profound+ and 2 only dropping in t8+)
The protocol will be random, a minion will not have the same protocol twice
The combination of protocols is not determined by the zone levels what you get is truly random.
Mechanics
Modules are Minion specifically Synthetic troops therefore there follow general scaling and rules that apply to all synthetic troops such as
Damage:
Only tags that are asociated with the skill the minions use, or that specifically state Minions (or servant), Synthetic troops will apply to the damage they deal
Summon limit:
There is both a character limit and a skill limit
By default, you can summon 2 synth troops at level 1 and the summon limit increases with level, being maxed out at skill level 18, this is the higher skill limit and it's capped at 4, you can increase the skill limit with modifiers such as "+1 to max summonable synthetic troops" which can be found in places like Machinist, Slates and Kismets however this limit cannot be increased past the character limit, which is 6, no matter what, a player cannot have more than 6 Synthetic troops at a time.
Base stats:
The base stats of modules follows the base stats of all synthetic troops, you can verify this information in TLIDB, but in general, their base damage is capped at 300, their base crit rating is 500 (5% chance to crit) and their base crit damage is 150%
Attack speed:
Each module has their own skills, which have their own attack animation, refer to the google doc for the information on each of them.
Protocols
Protocols are the unique mechanic for modules, these are in essence modifiers that the skill has upon being dropped, these cannot be modified in any way and have a variety of effects, ranging from buffing the minion that is summoned by the skill, buffing your character and other minions, debuffing enemies or providing auras or even charges to allies.
When you search the AH (Auction house/Trade) for modules, you will see 3 of them listed with the same name, these are modules with 1 protocol (T7+), 2 Protocols (T8+), or 3 Protocols (Profound+) there is no way to tell which one is which in the auction house, you have to click search and see which one is which but in general if you do a price check you will notice that the value of them is very different, with 3 mod protocols being a lot more valuables than the other 2
